Bradon's baseball game 5-24

Tonight was Bradon's turn to play baseball (no tees for this six-year-old!). It was the Yankees (Bradon's team) vs. the Braves from Roscoe. The Braves took an early 5-2 lead, and then scored a grand slam, so they were up 9-2! It looked mighty bleak for the Yanks, but a comeback brought them to within 2 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Entering the fourth 9-7, the mighty Yankees held the Braves scoreless and were set to do some damage in their last at-bat. Unfortunately, the Braves' coach had other ideas. He switched out his flagging pitcher. The substitute had an accurate fastball, and fanned the Yanks' first three batters.

Bradon and the Yankees played well, and Bradon "got a run" by crossing home plate, even though the Braves made the third out on the same play. He was so excited that his relatives saw no need for a rules lesson at the time!

Here are some pics:

Bradon is serious about his duties in right field.

Or maybe not so serious...

But he's all business when it comes to batting...

After a walk put Bradon (#6) on first base, he proceeded to steal second...

...and third...

...and he made it home, but I missed that picture (see above for details).

Here are some pics of the other grandkids:

Haelyn the raisin monster...

And Lathan the shameless poser! :)

More to come later!

Pics at Lathan's tee-ball game 5-22-07

Our middle grandchild, Lathan, had a tee-ball game this past Tuesday. He plays for the Astros (as he says, he's an "Astronaut"!!!), the red and *white* team in the pics. Not sure of the name of the other team, but they're red and *black*.

In this picture, Lathan was picking up the chalk dust and blowing it off his hand before the game.

When he saw us watching him, he just grinned like a Cheshire Cat!

This is Lathan's first year eligible to play tee-ball, and he's still learning! He hit the ball off the tee a couple of times, but the other team tagged him out or caught him at first before he got on base. Here, the up-and-coming slugger pounds one into the infield!

Lathan's sister Haelyn was more interested in acquiring some (or all!) of the snacks in the vicinity than in watching brother play ball. Isn't she a cutie?

Older brother Bradon had baseball practice during the game...he showed up halfway through, but promptly disappeared to play on the playground. He's got a game tonight, weather permitting, and I'll try to get some shots.

Welcome!
